David Attenborough Hand Written Letter and Signed Photos

David Attenborough Hand Written Letter

A client recently brought us a truly special piece of memorabilia—something deeply personal and unique. As a child, he had been a huge admirer of Sir David Attenborough and, around 20 years ago, wrote him a letter requesting a signed photograph. To his amazement, Sir David not only replied with a handwritten letter but also included two autographed photos.

For more than two decades, these treasured items sat tucked away in a drawer, sealed in an envelope—hidden from view. Given their sentimental and historical value, our client finally decided it was time to give them the care and display they deserved.

From a framing standpoint, we knew we had to treat these items with the utmost respect. The handwritten letter, penned in ink, is particularly vulnerable to fading from UV light. To preserve it properly, we recommended our highest grade of UV-filtering glass. This, paired with Fine Art Trade Guild Level 2 conservation methods and materials, will significantly reduce the risk of fading and deterioration over time.

The client was more than happy to follow our conservation advice, knowing how meaningful this piece was to his childhood. He was absolutely delighted with the final result—and we’re honoured to have helped bring this treasured memory into the light where it belongs.

This project was completed to Fine Art Trade Guild Level 2 standard, and featured techniques from the following GCF Advanced modules:

  • Conservation Framing
  • Mount Design and Function
